Impression 5 is a hands-on learning environment that challenges its visitors to experience, discover, and explore the world in which they live. Impression 5 achieves this by producing hands-on exhibits and participatory programs.

L.A.B.S. Science Camps at Impression 5 Science Center are so popular that we have extended our offerings!  In these day camps, students Learn About Basic Science with the help of hands-on activities.

With the exception of half-day camps for 3- to 5-year-olds, all camps meet from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Children may be dropped off as early as 8:00 am and picked up as late as 5:30 pm.  Two snacks are served each day-- just be sure to bring your favorite lunch!

For each day of "No School" L.A.B.S., members pay just $45 and not-yet-members pay $55.

November 25:

  • Pirate Challenge (7- to 9-year-olds)
  • Pirate Science (9- to 12-year-olds)
Have you ever wanted to be a pirate? Visit Impression 5 to sail the science seas! Our pirates-in-training will build compasses and create a disappearing map, all while discovering chemistry solutions. Plus, make a telescope and learn about stars! Become a pirate for a day--the treasure awaits!

November 27:

  • Science Chefs (9- to 12-year-olds)
Put on your chef hat and your mad scientist goggles to cook up some science fun and edible treats! What do Oreos, ice cream, soda, and sprinkles create? An aquifer, of course! Join us to make edible concoctions of your own!

December 21-23, 2009

Build It! (3- to 5-years-olds), Half-Day Camp, $67.50 for members / $82.50 for not-yet-members

Make a molecule, make a kite, and put your hands to the test as we build items small and large!  Learn about shapes and structures and float your own boat!  Get ready for a variety of building experiments!


Millionaire Scientist (5- to 7-year-olds), $135 for members / $165 for not-yet-members

The money journey awaits as we take part in "What's on a Penny?".  Learn the science behind counterfeit money as we discover chromatography, and explore security features of money.  Use MiScopes to take a closer look at money and learn about the elements that make up our coins.  Plus, discover the chemistry behind cleaning money!   Fianlly, take a math challenge as we explore saving, create a saving tube and visit a local bank!  Sponsored by NuUnion Credit Union.   


Mythbusters (7- to 9-year-olds), $135 for members / $165 for not-yet-members

So, what is real and what is fiction?  Let science be your guide as we explore different myths like what actually causes the foam in the Mentos and Soda experiment.  Is it carbonation or is it something else?  Can lasers really pop balloons? Get ready to use modern science to crack the myths! 


 How's It Made? (9- to 12-year-olds), $135 for members / $165 for not-yet-members

Have you ever wondered how paper is made?  How about ice cream? How about soap? This camp will explore how things are made. Explore the science of making crayons, popcorn bags, perfumes, and much more!  Plus, investigate the science of making models and learn the science of glass-making! 


Photo Hunter (12- to 15-year-olds), $135 for members / $165 for not-yet-members

If a picture can represent a thousand words, then this camp will tell a story - your story!  Take a trip into photo documentaries and let your creativity be challenged.   Use digital cameras and digital scrapbooking to make your story come alive! 


December 28-31, 2009

Human Body (3- to 5-years-olds), Half-Day Camp, $80 for members / $100 for not-yet-members

Join us in exploring skeletons and the human heart with hands-on activities!  Make a life-size model of what your insides look like and get creative as we explore how food travels through your body! Plus, get ready to learn how blood cells, lungs and the heart work together! 


Animal Craze (5- to 7-years-olds), $160 for members / $200 for not-yet-members

Get excited about animals!  Animals of all kind will be featured in a hands-on, exploratory camp.  Explore how they eat, play, and interact as you learn about flying animals, swimming animals and much more!  


 Hogwarts Science (7- to 9-years-olds), $160 for members / $200 for not-yet-members

The adventure begins as we explore flying objects, chemistry experiments and the mystery of owls.  Learn about the stories of wizards and use science to investigate this amazing world.  Discover the mysteries of Hogwarts!    


Hogwarts Academy (9- to 12-years-olds), $160 for members / $200 for not-yet-members

Get ready to make potions based on chemistry and learn about amazing owls!  Soar to new heights as we explore flying objects and make disappearing ink! 


Backstage Pass (12- to 15-years-olds), $160 for members / $200 for not-yet-members

Take a trip behind the scenes of Impression 5!  Take a trip into the exhibit shop and learn about the exhibit process! How is slime made? Take an adventure and learn how!  Finally, document your experience by creating a video to share your experience on our website!
