2009-10 Homeschool Programs

Minds in Motion: An 8-Week Workshop Series

“Minds in Motion” is a workshop series especially designed for homeschool students. Each series is 8 weeks long, and will introduce the learners to scientific principles. The scientific method will be used during the hands-on exploration of each topic. Workshops motivate learners to explore the world of science through engaging, interactive experiments!

Reservations are required, so register today by calling (517) 485-8116, extension 32. Space is limited!

For each 8-week workshop series, the cost of attendance is as follows:

$55.00/Member

$65.00/Not-Yet Member

Payment is required upon reservation.

A $15.00 cancellation fee per 8-week series applies once the series has begun.
2009-10 Workshop Series Themes:

Space Science: Blast off to investigate star cycles, space exploration, and the solar system!

Dates: Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27, Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24

Computer Science: Explore digital media, get introduced to computer programming, and learn how to effectively use Scratch programming!

Dates: Dec. 1, 8, 15, Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26, Feb. 2

Environmental Science: Explore the science of the world around us like never before while learning how to use Quest Atlantis. Younger learners will experiment with soil testing and groundwater science!

Dates: Feb. 9, 16, 23, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Health Science: Investigate the science of nutrition and exercise while learning about blood vessels, muscles, and so much more!

Dates: April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25

Homeschool Science Days

Join us for Homeschool Science Days, a program designed for homeschool families to explore the world of science through hands-on experimentation.

Each Homeschool Science Day features a different workshop topic and an opportunity to inquire about science!

When?

Second Thursday of each month, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (doors open at 9:30)

Pre-School - Kindergarten: 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.

1st & 2nd grade: 11:00 - 11:45 a.m.

3rd & 4th grade: 10:00 - 10:45 a.m.

5th grade & up: 11:00 - 11:45 a.m.

No Reservations Required!

Members receive free admission and just pay a lab fee of $3 per child. Not-Yet Members pay admission and the lab fee. Families can take advantage of the group rate fee ($4 per child and free chaperones!).
