Impression 5 Science
Center is very proud to be the new host of Lansing's Adopt-A-River
Program! The Lansing Board of Water and Light has awarded
Impression 5 a three year grant to administer and coordinate this
popular program through 2008.
Impression 5 will
be responsible for organizing and administering two river cleanups
per year, beginning with this spring’s event which takes place Saturday,
September 16th. As
part of the arrangement, river cleanup event headquarters will be
moved to the I-5 campus at 200 Museum Drive in downtown Lansing.
Adopt
A River was originated by the Board of Water & Light in 1994
as a community service. The
BWL continues to support the program through funding and active
participation. Adopt A River’s purpose is to enhance the quality of life
in the Greater Lansing area by encouraging citizen participation
in beautifying the Red Cedar and Grand Rivers that flow through
the Lansing area.
Check
out photographs of previous clean-ups at this BWL
website. Every year volunteers pull tons of
unusual things from the rivers! What might you find
this year?
VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED!!
Cleaning up the river
is a big job! Impression 5 is in need of hundreds of
volunteers who would be interested in helping with not only the
clean up but also the administration and logistics of the clean
up. If you or your family or organization would like to help
make the rivers and thus the city a cleaner place for all to
enjoy, please contact us right away!
As an added bonus
every Adopt-A-River volunteer also receives free admission to
Impression 5 Science Center the day of the clean-up! That
Saturday is our Earth Day celebration. After the clean-up is
done please join us inside for more exciting, hands-on,
environmental activities!
